How To Do Ultra Deep Meditation

Posted on Sunday, May 23rd, 2010 at 3:22 pm

Meditation is an extremely powerful yet simple way to relax your mind and body and cultivate a peaceful state of being. However, as well as standard meditation, it is possible to achieve ultra deep meditation states.

The purpose of this article is to give you a method that you can use to help you go into an ultra deep meditation state. The main technique I am going to be discussing is mantra meditation. I will also talk about using binaural beats to attain deep meditative states.

When you do mantra meditation, you repeat a sound or word continuously in your mind. What this does is it keeps your mind busy with a simple boring task while simultaneously letting the rest of your mind to deeply relax. We are going to be using the OM mantra.

First of all, find a dark, quiet place where you will not be interrupted. Sit comfortably in a reasonably upright position, and begin to breathe in and out deeply and slowly. As you breathe out, say the word Ommmmm in time with your long out-breath. Repeat this for a couple of minutes.

After a while, as you begin to feel quite relaxed, allow your breathing to settle back down to its normal rate, and then slowly shut your eyes. In this relaxed state, allow the mind to carry on repeating the Ommmm mantra at whatever tempo or rhythm feels most natural.

The trick here is to use the absolute minimum effort required to continue repeating the mantra. It should feel almost completely effortless; and there is no correct way to repeat the mantra. If the mantra repeats slowly, then just let the mind repeat it slowly. If the mantra repeats fast, then just let the mind repeat the mantra fast. Just allow it to almost automatically flow through your mind.

While meditating, if at any time you find your mind has drifted away from your mantra and is caught up in thoughts, do not let it worry you. All you do is gently guide your mind back towards your mantra in an effortless way. Also, if you find yourself feeling blissfully relaxed and peaceful, then feel free to let the mantra fade away, and just rest in that deeply relaxed state.

After about 10 to 20 minutes of mantra meditation, allow the mantra to fade away, and then spend a couple of minutes just relaxing with your eyes closed, and eventually slowly open your eyes again.

In addition to the mantra meditation (or even instead of it), another way to do ultra deep meditation is to use binaural beats. This entails playing slightly different frequencies into each ear, and your brain hears the difference in frequency and then matches its own brainwave frequency to it. This can cause extremely deep states of mind.

Take a look at this simple way to achieve ultra deep meditation and find how you can begin to meditate deeply now.

Use Binaural Beats Meditation To Relax And Unwind

Posted on Monday, May 10th, 2010 at 3:39 pm

You may well wonder what binaural beats meditation is all about. In 1839 Heinrich Wilhelm Dove discovered that if two tones are played with slightly different frequencies and then listened to on a stereo headset, that the listener perceives it as a pulsating beat.

The human ear is able to perceive any sound above 1000 hertz and to achieve the binaural beat a slight variation of no more than 30hertz is required to maintain the desired effect. A greater differentiation will mean that the human ear does not perceive the binaural beat, but will hear two distinctly different tones.

These beats alter the subjects brain wave frequency, inducing a sense of relaxation. During a typical day the human brain cycles through a range of different frequencies and with the use of this unique phenomenon a person can consciously affect the brain waves, altering it to the desired frequency.

Mankind has used meditation for relaxation over many centuries in countries across the globe. In the Western culture we are conditioned from an early age to use our time productively, to always be active and to not waste time. This mind set can make it very difficult for some people to take time out to relax and meditate.

We are so conditioned to be constantly on the move that it can be very difficult to simply quiet the physical self and to relax mentally. To aid this process, binaural beats are found to be extremely effective as they can alter the brainwaves to function at a level that is more indicative to the meditation process.

Ideally the brain needs to be in the alpha brainwave state to enjoy successful meditation. This can be easily achieved by using binaural beats to alter brainwave patterns. Using a set of headphones two slightly different tones are played independently of one another and the brain interprets this as a third, distinctive tone.

The brain moves from the everyday beta state to alpha. In alpha a person can achieve a heightened state of relaxation and deep thought. Once the alpha state has been mastered the individual can move on to the theta state, which is a deeper level of calm and peacefulness.

The frequency creates a shift in consciousness, making it easier for the mind to achieve a meditative state. The individual can use this induced mental state for relaxation, stress relief and as a way to achieve a more enlightened state. In this state we can focus on issues that require clarification and by therapeutic relaxation we can enjoy many health benefits.
