Ayurveda is a system of ancient healing that has been practiced in India since the ancient Vedic period. In South Asia, this system is still practiced as a form of substitute medicine. This system of traditional medicine has evolved throughout its existence and is now recognized in the West as an alternative system of medicine.

In the western world, the ayurveda music is known as a form of complementary and alternative medicine. Some of the systems and methods of Ayurveda have become popular recently. The use of herbs, massages, and yoga exercises has been used to harmonize traditional and contemporary medical therapies. Every so often these methods are employed as entirely a form of CAM therapy.

Sushruta, has been practicing ayurveda music, describes perfect health as a state where all of one’s constitution are in perfect balance, whose appetite is excellent, whose tissue layers function normally, whose excretory systems, and whose self, senses, and mind remain full of bliss. Consistent with the philosophy of Ayurveda, everything in our world has a distinctive personal vibration. Animate and inanimate matter has this exclusive personal vibration distinctive from all matter. Only when there is a free and unrestricted flow of this energy within a person is that person in good health. When there are disturbances in the flow this causes illness within the person.

In today’s world with the polluted environment, poor eating habits, bad lifestyle choices, and high stress occupations it would be extremely difficult to find an individual with a harmonious and free flow of energy within. The minds and bodies of most people nowadays are in a state of imbalance because of this situation. Ayurveda seeks to bring back the balance of the energy flow within a person and thus bring on a state of health.

This healing system has several methods that we can use to restore the body back to its original state of health. Meditation and yoga are relaxation techniques that can restore balance. A cleansing technique can be used solely or together with other methods. When herbal tonics are used, the whole plant is used up which is vital to the method because natural vibrations of the plant will restore balance without overfilling the body.

So we can say that ayurveda music is an effective technique to restore harmony to the body’s energy flow, and in turn, induces a balance of health, happiness, and beauty. Since sound is a vibration it has the capacity to affect the vibrations of the body. Ayurveda healing music has been used as part of the Ayurveda holistic natural healing which happens to be 5000 years old.

The pituitary gland which is located in the brain, is stimulated by the appropriate music, is one of the beliefs of Ayurvedic medicine. Although the size of the pituitary gland is that of a pea, it releases powerful hormones and regulates homeostasis. Ayurvedic medicine utilizes ragas or Raga to produce the melodies of healing music. Tones of the Raga are both sharper and flatter than the tones in western scales. The Raga is characterized as “that which colors the mind”. The Raga has spiritual connections while western music does not. As a healing music, Ragas are believed to have good effects on a lot of ailments including pain, insomnia, schizophrenia, epilepsy, and even aging. It has been proven that Ayurvedic music helps to control hypertension and liver function.

Ayurveda uses music to produce vibrations in the cells of the body. The vibrations produced can change the consciousness of the person thus restoring lost health. Music has been recognized to enhance efficiency and concentration in times of prolonged periods of work. Having the appropriate kind of music can help induce a relaxing mood.
