Music hath charms. . Yes music can heal you. Your heart. Your soul. Your mind. It relaxes you and will take you to places that make the world seem so far away. Put on an album or the radio and tune into a song that is soft and soothing. Before you know it your troubles or concerns are a thing of the past.
The most broad example of a soothing type of music would be soft music. This would include songs and pieces that utilize gentler sounding instruments like strings, flute, harp and acoustic guitar. Soft music, as the name would imply, would not be played at a high volume as this would disrupt a soft and relaxing environment. A lot of classical music, especially from the 18th and 19th centuries would be ideal soft music. Also, music by artists like Enya, Yanni and Vangelis are generally soft and atmospheric in nature.
Similarly, soft rock music can also lift your spirits and inspire you. When you feel at ease, inspired and more relaxed, your mind may be dwelling less on discomfort and the fact of your illness, allowing your body to rest and recover more quickly.
Pop music, such as Lady Gaga or Christina Aguilera, can tap into our emotions and change our outlook and mood more quickly and efficiently than other methods. Studies support that pop music, amongst other genres, can help people suffering from mental illness by alleviating stress, panic and feelings of isolation.
The practice of yoga is often enhanced by the playing of soft, calming music in the background. Because yoga is focused on cleansing the mind and focusing the body, it is important to choose music that is not distracting or raise energy levels. Loud music is not ideal as is music with a strong drum and/or bass beat. Choose music that is purely instrumental and quiet. Many practicers of yoga also enjoy listening to music that is accompanied by nature sounds, like a gentle waterfall or birds chirping.
Relaxing music is very akin to the type of music you would use in the practice of yoga. Anything that is loud, jarring and containing a strong beat is not preferable. Choose music that is instrumental - without lyrics - so as to not distract or preoccupy your mind. Again, music by Enya or somebody similar is ideal.
It can be argued that all music is healing music, but some health gurus and alternative medicine experts claim that certain genres and styles of music, such as those listed above, are especially beneficial.
Music is all around us. Radio, TV, internet, ipods. Offices have music piped in to keep employees moral up and spirits high. Poeple cannot live without music because it keeps you emotionally healthy and it provides an escape at the end of the day. Even children benefit from music early in life. No matter what, make sure that music is around and a part of anything you are doing.

I would like to introduce one type of relaxation music that has been released nowadays not that long ago. It is called alphamusic. The aim of such music is to put the person into relaxed state called alpha. This is the state which is similar to the state we are in when we wake up in the morning fully refreshed after a good night sleep. Your brain and body are awake and allow you to work and think exceptionally well. The most insightful decisions and inventive things are done when we are in exactly that state. Someone who has completed a duty and sits down and rest is considered to be in an alpha state. Someone who takes a break to meditate is generally in an alpha state. Someone who goes out for a walk outside a busy room is again in an alpha state. More often it reflects the meditative state of mind. Alpha brainwaves are slower and higher in amplitude. Their frequency ranges from 9 to 14 cycles per second, so they slow down your brain function and help you calm down and relax.
So when we discuss the alphamusic it is that type of music which put you into a meditative state an alpha.
Research has shown that 4 to 20 minutes of listening to the relaxation music called alphamusic, may improve your concentration and ability to work by over 100 %. Stress, depression, ADHD, learning disabilities or sleep disorders are usually treated by therapists or doctors that apply such relaxation music into their therapies with wonderful results.
There are many types of alphamusic cds, mp3’s available in the market, some with the years of research and experience has been already been called a great invention and more and more people, therapists who see the incredible results of playing such music while therapy are applying it and recommend to one another. So will that type of relaxation music revolutionary the world in the next few years? I may say, if this music continues having such an outstanding therapy results, we may soon hear a lot more about this type of relaxation music.
